Not really, but it could make the job of an online affiliate marketer a total nightmare in the coming months... selling affiliate products on the web has just gotten much, much tougher. Why?Mainly because Google has taken Froogle, which it created in 2002 and re-named/re-branded it into Google Product Search. Now when anyone searches for a product on the web - Google Product Search will list the products and the stores selling them on the web.Now it should be noted, Google doesn't charge any fees for these listings and accepts no payment for products that show up first; nor does Google make any commissions on sales. Google makes its revenue by selling advertising via Adwords on the Product Search results pages. Any company can submit products thru Google Base to be included in Google Product Search. What's the problem?Actually, there is no problem for the consumer who wants to find the cheapest price for a product. Google offers this great service which will help you find your product. It just cuts out the affiliate marketer who makes a living by promoting products on the web and receiving a small commission in return for their work. But there are some very fundamental issues here that also cuts at the very heart of the Internet as we know it. Is Google changing the rules of how it does business by more aggressively targeting not only specific product keywords but much more broader keyword phrases in their organic search results with programs like Google Product Search? And they're listing their links first in the organic search results or what everyone has come to believe are organic results. This argument is not new, Google has been taking those top spots for years albeit directing buyers to other companies with the best prices and offers. However, is Google now not just targeting a product name or product - but targeting and listing in the #1 spot all the broader keyword phrases which have until recently been dominated by the ordinary website owner? And even in your own iGoogle personal search, you can NOT place your choice ABOVE this Google Product Link. The real tricky question here: isn't Google going from a search engine to a website creator and operator in this process? Is Google now not only providing the results; but is it now creating web pages to match those results? There's nothing wrong with that, Google can do what it wants, but for the small affiliate marketer it means competition. Big competition. In other words, every website on the net now has Google as a potential competitor in organic search.Of course, how far Google goes with this broader keyword targeting has yet to be seen. Only time will tell if Google does indeed have affiliate links and affiliate sites in its cross-hairs. Many affiliate marketers on the web will be waiting nervously for the answer to that question.Again, most people would agree with what Google is doing, since most affiliate marketers only hype the products they're selling and getting those affiliate based sites out of their search results and off the web may not be a bad move on Google's part and for the web as a whole. However, are consumers now getting the real information on products they're buying? One of the great things about the Internet is that it has always offered various types of information and viewpoints on any subject matter - including the products that we buy on the web. By placing itself first in organic search results, Google is saying its information and listed products are the ones you should be getting. Many affiliate marketers have spent years researching and studying a particular product niche and they offer valuable in-depth information on their sites about a particular product or service. They also offer comprehensive general knowledge about products, services and subjects that many searchers genuinely want to find when they search the web for information. It doesn't always mean going directly to the merchant to buy a product, many shoppers want information first, then make their decision. While others will argue what's the big deal, isn't Google also giving other search results besides the top spot? Yes, but as any marketer who has had a # 1 ranking in Google or any search engine for that matter, will know the top spot gets the majority of the traffic. So Google, by reserving the top spot for itself, will now receive the majority of the traffic, which it can exploit with its advertising.Google is smart. Google has smart people. And smart people know the longer you have a web surfer on your site and not on someone else's site, the more money you will make on advertising. By taking the top spot in organic search for every profitable keyword that's searched, and keeping those searchers on web pages derived from those results, Google can create more business for itself. The poor affiliate marketer and every other website owner will just have to settle for second place.

Tips on keywords
Keywords, keyword phrases, and keyword search are are topics of concern, especially when writing relevant content for an article or other web content. It is important to use relevant keywords or keyword phrases in order to attract high traffic from the search engines and earn the writer some recognition as well as some adsense money. I'm "learning the ropes" as I go.
Admittedly, keywords and keyword phrasing have been a major concern of mine and sometimes I spend more time searching for relevant keywords than I do writing relevant content. Luckily, I have found some very useful tools in helping me find relevant keywords, which I will share with you shortly, but first I want to discuss what exactly keywords are and how I incorporate them into my articles and web content.
Keywords are an article writers best friend. Keywords are words or phrases that a person would type into a search engine to find relevant content. Successful keywording will drive targeted traffic to your content through the search engines.
4 Things To Remember
Prominence
Make sure to place your keyword or keyword phrase close to the beginning of your content and expecially in the title. It should also be in the first sentence or at the least the first paragraph. Search engines will usually display the title or first sentence in the search results and if your keyword or keyword phrase is not in there it will not get high ranking.
Density
Your keyword or keyword phrase should make up at least 3% but no more than 8% of your total content. This is known as keyword density and is very important as it affects page ranking in almost all search engines.
Frequency
In theory, the more often your keyword or keyword phrase is used through out your content, the more relevance the search engines are likely to place on that keyword and rank your content higher. The trick is not to abuse your keywords and just throw them anywhere. Search engines can determine if keywords are just being stacked to get relevance.
Proximity
Use your kewords through out your content and do not use keywords that have no relevance to your content. Be sure to use them in the first and last paragraphs. Build your content around your keywords and keyword phrases

What to look for when searching for relevant keywords
Below, I am listing several free tools you can use to research relevant keywords. When you are researching keywords or keyword phrases keep a pad of paper near you and pay close attention to these 3 criteria for relevant keywords:
Number of Searches
This is literally the number of searches per month that a keyword or keyword phrase has been searched for. The higher the number of course means there are a lot of people searching for it. Wrap your keyword or keyword phrase in quotes. This will give you a more relevant search number for your keywords.
Competition
When you find a keyword or keyword phrase you are considering, type it into a couple of search engines to find out how many results come up. If the reuslts show up in the millions then you can rest assure there is a ton of competition. Type in all of your keyword phrases and write down your results. When you find the lowest amount of results then you have found the phrase that has the least competition.
Profitabillity
Using Google Adword's Traffic estimator you can research how much a keyword is going to cost per click for the advertiser. Compare this number to the number of searches for you keyword. This will give you the potential profitablility of that keyword.
Having relevant content is what will get a higher click through rate (CTR) on your adwords and earn you a decent return. Increasing CTR will be the topic of my next SEO article.

How can you increase your AdSense earnings without breaking Google AdSense rules? How can you boost your AdSense earnings quickly and efficiently without having to worry about getting banned?
There are number of ways to increase AdSense earnings safely… they can be extremely quick but unfortunately none of them are easy.
Contrary to what you might have read in some adverts or dodgy sites, gaining substantial AdSense earnings is tough, yet it can be a rewarding endeavour. So what are the basic steps towards increasing your AdSense earnings? Basically, the steps are based on the core essential factors that drive all successful AdSense projects these are:
· Quality AdSense ads with high CPCs
· Healthy Click-Through-Rates (5%-105)
· Good levels of traffic (100 or more a day)

How high Cost-Per-Clicks (CPCs) can Increase AdSense Earnings
You need good CPCs to have decent AdSense earnings. This is crucial to any campaign hoping to boost their AdSense earnings. No matter how brilliantly your website is put together and how many people pass through it. If you are earning $0.01 per click you’re not making the most your websites potential. But how can you control the type of ads Google delivers to your site? Isn’t the process random?
I’ll answer that question with another question.
How does Google know how to deliver the right kind of ads for your content?
Exactly!
It’s all about contextual content writing. The more focused your written material the better the quality of ads you’re likely to be delivered. One of the best ways to make your content more focused is to research, find and use high value AdSense keywords. By placing these keywords generously through your site you can boost your AdSense earnings through increased CPCs... substantially.

How to Increase Your AdSense CPCs
For example, let say you’ve got a site about exercising at home. What you could do is have a section on your site that focuses on the AdSense keywords that pay; words related to exercise equipment for example. You might even decide to be more specific and focus, on individual types of equipment, like treadmills and exercise bikes.
These AdSense niches are extremely popular and you will undoubtedly be delivered a number of highly lucrative AdSense ads if these keywords are used in specific pages within your site.
How to increase your AdSense Earnings with Better Click-Through-Rates
How can you increase CTRs without falling foul of Google AdSense rules? You can’t just say ‘click on these ads’ with an arrow pointing to the ad of your choice, this is simply not allowed within the scheme. Is there a legitimate way to increase CTRs?
There are two common ways increasing CTRs without breaking AdSense rules.
1. The first is a standard way of boosting CTRs and it is done by experimenting with the position of your ads. By changing and experimenting with them, you are able to give them the best exposure on your site so that they are more likely to be clicked.
2. The second way of increasing CTRs involves learning the art of selling something that you might get as an ad. This does not break any Google AdSense rules because your content isn’t making any direct reference to the ads themselves. All your content would be doing is discussing the usefulness of the products, packages or services that it might be getting as AdSense ads.

So how does this work?
Let’s keep to the theme of ‘exercising at home’. So, you have your high value AdSense keywords all prepared, how do you write material that will increase CTRs yet won’t get you banned?
On your pages that are focused on the theme of treadmills. You could talk about the multiple advantages of using them to burn calories and you could even suggest routines and exercise plans.
What you would be doing is discussing exercising treadmills, period. You may not even have AdSense on your site during the first few days of your pages publication and you will not be breaking any AdSense rules. Due to Google’s wish to make their ads relevant to the content of the site they’re published in, they will undoubtedly deliver you ads about exercising treadmills. In this instance you will be selling the ads without directly referring to them. And because your visitors will already be primed for the content of you site (especially if they searched for your sites through the Search Engines) they are more likely to click on your AdSense ads.
High Traffic Levels and Increasing AdSense Earnings
High traffic levels drive every successful AdSense project. Brilliantly written content optimized with well researched AdSense keywords is nothing without new visitors to read the material.
So how can you get traffic to your AdSense site?
The best ways involves using a number of different marketing strategies this includes:
· Blogging
· Forums
· Directories
· Back-linking
There more ways to drive traffic to your site all of which are helpful in building back-links and directing traffic to your site. Always try and use as many different ways as possible.
There are a number of ways to increase your AdSense earnings and this is mostly done by focusing on the essentials of Google AdSense. By making sure you have a good grasp of the rules you can safely make the most of the scheme.
To ensure that you can make the most out of AdSense don’t lose focus of the money making core of the scheme; CPCs, CTRs and Traffic. If you can keep these factors high you will undoubtedly increase your AdSense earnings.

Google provides webmasters with loads of useful applications. Two of the most useful are the AdSense ad serving program and the Google Analytics website statistics tool. If you have created a hub on hubpages, you probably already have an AdSense account at Google. Logging in to your account in order to check your earnings is as easy as navigating to www.google.com/adsense/ an entering your credentials. Some of you might also have an Analytics accounts to track your hub statistics. Logging in is just as easy as with AdSense, just go to www.google.com/analytics/ and enter your username and password. What some of you may not be aware of is the fact that AdSense can actually be integrated with Analytics, meaning that you can track your ad revenue through Google Analytics without needing to log in at two different places. Setting up your Analytics account to receive AdSense data is very easy and it will be even more easy if you follow this quick step by step guide. There are actually two ways to do this, the first (through Analytics) is presented below with screenshots, and the second (through Adsense) is presented in a video at the end of this hub.
Step by step integration guide (through Google Analytics)
Before you start, please note that to link to an existing Analytics account, your AdSense login must be an Administrator on that Analytics account. If you used the same e-mail address to created both accounts, like myself, this has already been taken care of.
Now, lets get started, shall we?
1. As a first step, you have to navigate to www.google.com/analytics/ and log in to your account. If you don't already have one, it is very easy to set one up right there.
2. After you have logged in, the homepage of Google Analytics will appear. What you have to do now is find the website profile with which you want to integrate AdSense and click the "Edit" button as seen in the image below

3. After clicking on the "Edit" button, the profile settings page for the selected profile will appear. You will see that the "AdSense Data" field will read "Not receiving AdSense data". This is exactly what we have to fix. To continue, click the "Edit" button shown in the image below

4. This will open the next page, which is the profile information editor page. Scroll down a bit until you find the "AdSense Data" option. Check the box called "Yes, this profile should receive AdSense data" which is underlined in the picture below.

5. After you check the box, AJAX will take care of the rest by displaying a box with a Google script. The last thing you have to do is insert this code on the top of every page that displays Google ads. I usually place it just after the tag. If you're using some kind of CMS, you can place this code inside the header file of the template (it's called something like header.php usually), so it will be automatically included in all pages. Assuming you have done everything correctly, when you visit the profile settings page again you should see the following message.

Congratulations, you can now track your AdSense revenue through Analytics! Remember that, according to Google, the display on Analytics might not always be a 100% accurate. If you want to be absolutely sure about your earnings, visit your AdSense account.
Here's a quick video explaining how to integrate your AdSense account with Google Analytics, through your AdSense account

When I started out using Google AdSense, it was a horrible mess. My gloomy posts brought ads for funeral services, my posts about my friend Lothar brought Lothar of the Hill People ringtones, and I had a clickthrough rate that was lower than a monkey closing his eyes and randomly clicking the webpage.
Fortunately I had Googled a few sources of information, and the best one I read about was Joel Comm's The AdSense Code. I ordered the book and when it arrived I was very happy to learn how many changes I could make, many of them immediately.
I ordered the book in 2007, but the key strategies have remained sound and brought me an improvement of over 27 times the old clickthrough rate! While AdSense policies forbid disclosing the exact clickthrough rate, I've become very happy with the money I'm building up and am almost at my first $100.
The two main strategies of optimizing your site are providing matching ads and blending them with your website. If you have a pleasing coffee color for your website and throw eye-blistering red and blue flashing ads out, you're in for some unimpressed readers. When a person reads your website, it needs to be visually integrated. If you have one part sticking out like a broken arm, a few people may be morbidly attracted to it, but the rest will instinctively shy away. I've found greatly improved results with ads that have been changed to black text with classic blue (0000FF) on a white background. And your ad background should match or at least blend well with your page background.
If you are getting all sorts of pointless ads from AdSense, it could be a few things.
First of all, there may not be enough wording on your page to let the Google searchbots piece together an intelligent guess as to what sort of ads should be on your page. Second, you may not have enough keywords (don't use too many though or it will affect your page rank). Third, you may be linking to all sorts of random sites, and their links are tainting Google's selections. Fourth, it may just take time for the bots to get enough content from enough pages to come up with a better idea of what your site is about. And fifth, your titles, metatags and even your image names (name them as keywords) and image alternate text (add some -- learn how at http://w3schools.com) can help tremendously in piecing together a better overview of your site for Google.
Last of all, to get started quickly, you will need to get rid of image ads, and pick an ad shape that works best on your site.
Image ads are the bane of the publisher because, unless you are in a highly visual medium like Second Life or other online gaming, they will intrinsically stick out from your content. Nothing says "Hi, I'm an ad" than a long (animated) image running down the side of your site. Text ads are superior because you can usually get more placed per ad spot, and you can monitor improvements in your optimization faster. If at least one ad out of four shows ads that you want, it's an improvement, and someone may click that ad while you're tuning things up! Google used to offer mixed text and image ads as a default, but has changed to default text ads.
As you make changes, you will need to keep a log of what works and what doesn't, especially with ad selection and placement. According to Comm, 336x280 ads are the absolute most effective ads you can use, and I've gotten great results in the past. If you're used to having a chock-full website with every spare inch of space devoted to content and tiny ads, give them a try and you'll see how well they work! Half-banner ads (468x60s) are dogs because like image ads they stick out like sore thumbs, but they can still be used creatively and sparingly. Be sure to add channels to your ads if you use them on more than one site, and monitor their performance on your AdSense daily reports, so you know what you are doing right and keep doing it!
As to ad placement, studies abound saying there is a right triangle of "heat" (maximum clicking activity), with the right angle at the upper left or right of your website. While other bloggers and writers have questioned its depth, http://www.feng-gui.com/ may be of interest if you want a free, quick and basic assessment of your website's hot spots.
Because Google is an organic, dynamic company with an unparalleled reach and depth, there are no 100% solutions to fixing your site. Policies and even user preferences can change daily, so in addition to studying Joel Comm's approach I would join and contribute to the AdSense Forum. Often the most confounding problems can be solved with enough people reading the question, or at worst, redefined to save you from spinning your wheels.
Another consideration: your website may be in need of a tune-up. For this I highly recommend Nick Usborne's guides on FreeIQ, including free content.
If you become completely frustrated with AdSense, there are alternatives that pay more per conversion (click, signup or sale) and through smaller minimums (for example, every $10 instead of AdSense's $100). For a good list of alternate advertisers, check out John Chow's recommended list or join Kolimbo.com.
And if you become frustrated with even these ad systems, ProBlogger.net has an excellent post on attracting niche advertisers on your own. While these principles are targeted to a blog, they can be adapted to a regular website easily enough. For more detail, you can buy their book.

Top Paying Adsense Keywords help you to be found.
Let me ask you, how do you find information on the web? Easy, you type it into google or whatever search engine and it will give you a list of sites that might answer your query.
What is the most frustrating thing when you are searching for information? To have your search engine throw back at you stuff that isn’t relevant!
That is why the search engines continually update their spidering criteria to make sure that they really understand what is on a website in terms of quality information so that the person searching for information will have the best experience possible. It’s very customer orientated, and the person searching for information is the customer.
That gives us our first point then, that if you ever have a hope of having your information found on the internet you need to make sure that you are using top key words and phrases that are going to help those spiders (the little programs that come from search engines that work out what is on your page) to be able to put your site on the first page of google for that term. As it happens, the top keywords that will help you to rank well will also help you get better value clicks, because they are usually the top paying adsense keywords. To discover a good phrase will take a bit of work to put that together, and a careful balance of writing with an eye to what is being searched for, ensuring that enough people are looking for it to make writing worthwhile, and that there isn’t too much competition. Competition incidentally can be calculated by either Page rank, competing sites, or both.
Top Paying Adsense Keywords help you get more money for each click
The second reason revolves around how to persuade google adsense that you want it to display the best paying google ads on your site. You need to find the top paying adsense keywords.
Prices range from 1 or 2 cents right up to dollars per adword! That means that if you don’t spend time working out which are the high paying adwords for what you are writing, then you could get dumped with a load of 1 and 2 cent wonders. And by the time you have shared your revenue (we think it’s about 40%) with Hub pages it will take you a long time to even buy a Starbucks!
There are many adwords which relate to the same niche keyword. So it might be that the phrase ‘lose weight’ is a cheaper adword than ‘diet’. In which case you will want to spend time writing your article using the word ‘diet’ rather than ‘lose weight’ so that there is more chance of that better paying ad being displayed on your Hub or webpage.
This in itself becomes another balancing act because if you are using a well paying keyword/adword, then the chances are that the market will be swamped with other people doing the same thing. As a rough guide, don’t try writing for anything over about $5 in terms of adword value, that way there is a better chance of you getting to the first page of google so that you can get visitors. Remember, good revenue=traffic + adword value.

Why this method will make you more money
The ridiculous thing is it only takes about 10 minutes to determine which is the better converter, and which is the better paying top adsense keywords. Using tools like google keyword tool, and Spyfu.com, plus a nice little piece of software from a guy called Jonas and his free software that analyses commercial intent, you can work out what will be best for you.
And that will make a difference. You will get page views, and you will get more money per click. And if you rack that up, even at only one click conversion per day, 50 cents is a lot better than 1 cent a time! Multiply that over a year (call it 300) and you have the difference between $3 and $150…all for an extra 10 minutes work! (and yes, this is just an example, results differ, not typical blah blah blah!). Multiply that over 10 hubs and…well you can work out the rest.
So don’t be lazy, invest time in learning how to do keyword research so that it’s natural and you can do it without thinking, and put in an extra few minutes per article and you will find that your conversions are a lot better. Get digging for those top paying adsense keywords NOW!

Some High Paying, Expensive Adsense Keywords
A few weeks ago while doing some keyword research for one of my hubs, I stumbled on some very high paying adsense keywords completely by accident. My plan was to write a hub for each one, sit back and retire as the Adsense earnings came rolling in, but as often happens with the best laid plans, life got in the way! I realised there was no way on earth I was going to have the time to write so many hubs, especially on topics I would need to do a great deal of research on.
So I thought to myself, after sitting on these keywords for all these weeks, I would be happier just sharing them with the HubPages community and relieve myself of the burden of them!

How to Use High Paying Adsense Keywords
In my opinion the best way to benefit form these keywords is to choose 2 or 3 that are closely related such as:
sell your house and rent it back
sell house to rent back
sell and rent back house
Then write a hub on that topic. It could be about the benefits and the pitfalls of this kind of solution to money problems. Think about why someone might be considering such as drastic solution to their problem e.g. to stop repossession of their home. Try to look at the problem from their point of view in your hub.
If it's a topic you don't know much about then do some reseach. Google news articles are a good way to get up to date information. Do a search on the topic you want to find out about.
Make sure the article you write is going to be of use to the reader and not an article just stuffed full of keywords! if your reader finds it useful they will probably bookmark it and this counts as a back link which is good for you. If your article is just spam, google will rank it down and you won't get any click through = no money!
Even though your primary purpose is to earn money still put in the effort and make sure your hub is well written and worth reading. Ensure your article or hub is content rich and that the information you provide is valuable to the reader.
